SCCL’s total productivity rises record 9% in FY15

May 11: After a drop in the preceding year, Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) reported an 8.8% increase in total productivity in terms of output per manshift (OMS) to 4.20 tons in 2014-15 (FY15).

According to data released by the company, productivity in FY15 was the highest in the last 10 years. The number stood at 3.86 tons in FY14.

The productivity gains could be attributed to an increase in production and overburden (OB) removal as well as a reduction in total manpower.

While production increased by 4.1% to 52.54 million tons (mt), OB removal was up 54.3% to 262.82 million cubic metres in FY15. Manpower, on the other hand, decreased to 58,837 in FY15 from 61,778 a year ago.
