SCCL targeting 6 mt of coal production in March
01 Mar 2016
Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL), which took the coal industry by surprise by achieving more than 20% growth in coal output so far this year, has set a target of producing 6 million tons (mt) of coal in March 2016, a company source told ICMW.
“We have already achieved around 54 mt of production till now (February). For March, we have set a target of producing 6 mt, which will be the highest this year, and thus reach an annual production of 60 mt,” the source said.
He said that the yearly growth for coal production this year would be 22-23%.
As for despatches, SCCL is targeting to achieve around 58 mt in 2015-16, which would translate into a yearly growth of 14-15%, he said.
After a disappointing growth in 2014-15, SCCL started the current year (2015-16) with a bang, registering a (yearly) growth of 82% in its April (2015) production. The state-owned miner, under the leadership of Chairman N Sridhar, maintained the good work to continue with a high growth in the subsequent months.
Although the growth has come down to 7.1% in January, the performances in February and March are expected to help the company reach its desired milestone of 60 mt, the source claimed.
