SCCL to seek CIL’s expertise in overseas mine acquisition

July 28: Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) will soon seek the expertise of Coal India Ltd (CIL) in exploring mine acquisition opportunities overseas, a senior company official told ICMW.

“We had a talk with the Coal India chairman. We are going to seek their experience. Since Coal Videsh (a division of CIL) has already done it, we will immensely benefit from their knowledge and experience,” the official said.

He further said that SCCL will form a committee of 10, including one/two representatives of Telengana state government, “by one month or so” to explore mine acquisition opportunities in countries like Australia, South Africa, Mozambique and Indonesia.

The move has been initiated by Telengana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao who urged India’s second largest coal miner to aspire to become a global player.
