SCCL to treble explosives plants capacity to 50,000t

Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) has decided to expand the manufacturing capacity of its explosives plants from the current 16,000 tons to 50,000 tons, company sources told ICMW.

The company has already appointed IOCL as a technical consultant for the capacity expansion programme and technology adoption at its two units, the sources said.

SCCL had acquired the explosives plants from IOCL in 2007 to ensure better quality of the products, sustained supply and reduced costs, they said.

The current expansion is undertaken to ensure increased supply of the material which will support the stupendous growth in coal production. SCCL clocked a 15% growth in production during 2015-16 at 60.3 million tons, compared to 52.54 mt in 2014-15.
