SE Railway’s FY16 freight loading up 8.25% y-o-y

South Eastern Railway (SER) achieved an all-time high freight loading volume of 134.29 million tons (mt) in 2015-16, recording an increase of 8.25% compared to 124.05 mt loaded in 2014-15.
Freight loading in 2015-16 surpassed the previous 134.28 mt loaded in 2013-14, SER said in a release.
Its freight earning revenues increased by 8.55% to Rs 10,374.45 crore in 2015-16 from Rs 9,556.90 crore in 2014-15, the release said.
The major components of freight loading in 2015-16 consisted of 73.83 mt of iron ore, 25.30 mt of coal, 14.83 mt of pig iron and finished steel and 9.38 mt of cement etc.
In the passenger segment too, the achievement was significant as it carried 256.84 million passengers in 2015-16, higher by 1.19 million carried in 2014-15.
The earnings from passenger traffic stood at Rs 1,837.11 crore in 2015-16 as against Rs 1,678.33 crore in 2014-15, registering a growth of 9.46%.
