SECL gets EC for Manikpur OC expansion project

August 26: South Eastern Coalfields Ltd (SECL) has obtained environmental clearance (EC) for its Manikpur Opencast (OC) expansion project at Korba (Chhattisgarh) on August 22, according to data released by the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF).

The project has a capacity of 3.5 million tons per annum (mtpa).

The TOR for the project was granted in June 2008, while application for EC was received in January 2010.

Earlier this year, SECL obtained the EC for Jampali OCP, Kusmunda OC expansion and Gevra OC expansion projects.
