SER April-November freight loading up 6.49% y-o-y

December 9: South Eastern Railway (SER) during the first eight months of the current financial year, ie, from April to November, 2015, has loaded 86.78 million tons of revenue- earning freight as against 81.49 million tons loaded during the corresponding period of last year, registering a growth of 5.29 million tons, ie, a growth of 6.49%.
In November 2015, SE Railway loaded 10.34 million tons of freight as against 9.53 million tons loaded in November 2014, thus registering a growth of 8.5%.
In the iron ore sector the loading increased 25% more than in the corresponding month of the previous year.
The major components of this loading performance in the first eight months were 48.03 million tons of iron ore, 16.77 million tons of coal, 9.37 million tons of pig iron and finished steel, 5.49 million tons of cement, 2.91 million tons of merchandised goods, 1.42 million tons of petroleum products (POL) etc.
As a result of this loading performance, South Eastern Railway generated freight earnings of Rs 6,663.34 crore during April- November of the current financial year, which is Rs 519.54 crore more than in the corresponding period of last year, registering a growth of 8.46%.
