Sasan Power gets EC for Chhatrasal OCP

July 17: Sasan Power Limited, a subsidiary of Reliance Power Limited, has obtained the environmental clearance (EC) from the Ministry of Environment & Forests (MoEF) for its Chhatrasal Opencast Coalmine Project in Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh.
The ministry awarded the EC vide a letter issued to the management on July 11, 2014.
Coal from Chhatrasal coal block will be used to feed Reliance Power’s Sasan ultra mega power plant.
Forest clearance for the project has already been granted on November 23, 2012.
As per the communique, the project would come up in an area of 1,000.00 in Singrauli Coalfields and will produce 5 million tons (mt) of D-G grade coal every year.
The total geological reserve is 131.86 mt and mineable reserve is 112.5 mt whereas extractable reserve is 94.8 mt.
