Sasan allowed to mine extra coal from Moher
17 Mar 2016
Sasan Power Ltd (SPL), a part of Reliance Power, has been permitted by the Ministry of Coal to produce additional 1.2 million tons of coal from its Moher and Moher Amlohri extension block in the remaining period of 2015-16, the company said in a release.
The ministry has permitted SPL to mine 17.20 million tons per annum (mtpa) coal in 2015-16 as against its earlier approval of 16 mtpa, the release said.
In June 2015, the coal ministry had directed SPL to limit annual coal production to 16 mt, but the company had challenged the June 2015 decision of the ministry in the Delhi High Court.
The company statement informed that permission will help the plant, which is currently running at 100% PLF, generate 2,200 million units of electricity.
Industry sources said the current permission might be extended to the next financial year as well or till an order is passed by the court.
