Seaborne met coal price jump worries China
30 Aug 2021
The Chinese market sources are with a growing concern on the latest weekly jump in the seaborne coking coal price, even though non-Australian resources have remained limited, and some buyers, thus, had showed reservation in booking new volumes at high prices though inquiries still appeared robust over August 23-27.
Mysteel’s premium medium-volatile (PMV) coking coal price, mainly referring to the non-Australian PMV coal trading, jumped $42.5/tonne on week to $412/t CFR North China as of August 27, or a new high since the launch of the assessment on November 4 2019.
