Sept coking coal imports via Mormugao surge m-o-m

October 14: Coking coal imports through the port of Mormugao rose almost 5 times to 386,446 tons in September 2014, against a quantum of 69,078 tons reported in August, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In September 2013, the volume of coking coal imports through the port stood at 442,178 tons.
In the first six months (April-September) of the current financial year (2014-15), coking coal imports through the port stood at 2,229,949 tons as against 797,362 tons recorded during the same period of 2013-14.
Following is the monthly break-up of coking coal imports via Mormugao in 2013-14 and 2014-15:

During September 2014, 304,075 tons came in from Australia at a price range of Rs 5,949-Rs 8,338 ($98-$137) per ton while the balance 82,371 tons came from Canada at a price of Rs 7,512 ($123) per ton.
However, in August 2014, the entire quantity came from Australia at a price of Rs 8,697 ($143) per ton.
