Sept coking coal imports via New Mangalore spurt

October 15: Coking coal imports through New Mangalore Port during September 2014 rose sharply by almost 2.5 times to 152,303 tons from 61,470 tons recorded in August 2014, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
In September 2013, coking coal imports via the port stood at 12,318 tons.
Total imports of coking coal through New Mangalore Port in April-September, 2014-15 stood at 330,109 tons against 227,173 tons recorded in the same period of the previous financial year.
Following is the monthly break-up of coking coal imports via New Mangalore Port in 2014-15 and 2013-14 (in tons):

During September, 79,953 tons came from Australia at a price range of Rs 8,171-Rs 9,061 ($134-$149) per ton while the balance 72,350 tons came from Mozambique at a price of Rs 7,274 ($118) per ton.
However, in August 2014, 15,000 tons came from Australia at a price range of Rs 8,893-Rs 9,061 ($147-$148) per ton while the balance 46,470 tons came from Mozambique at a price of Rs 7,865 ($127) per ton.
