Sept coking coal imports via Paradip plunge 71% m-o-m

October 14: Imports of coking coal through the port of Paradip plunged 70.90% to 636,305 tons in September 2014 against a volume of 2,187,101 tons reported in August, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Imports of coking coal in September 2013 stood much lower at 366,525 tons.
Total imports of coking coal via the port during the first six months of the current financial year (2014-15) stood at 5,288,938 tons from 2,702,981 tons imported through the port during the same period in 2013-14.
Total coking coal imports for the last fiscal of 2013-14 stood at 5,954,933 tons.

In September, imports included 520,875 tons from Australia in a price range of Rs 6,383 – Rs 23,152 ($104-378) per ton, 49,490 tons from Canada at a unit price of Rs 8,063 ($132), 46,511 tons from the US in a band of Rs 8,428 – Rs 8,545 ($138-140) per ton and the balance 19,428 tons from New Zealand at a unit price of Rs 7,795 ($128).
In August, imports comprised 1,488,497 tons from Australia in a price band of Rs 2,494 – Rs 10,139 ($41-164) per ton, 619,533 tons came in from Canada in a band of Rs 1,008 – Rs 8,031 ($16-132) per ton, 29,746 tons arrived from Mozambique at a unit price of Rs 6,120 ($99), 5,580 tons from New Zealand at a unit price of Rs 7,923 ($131), 3,802 tons from South Africa at a unit price of Rs 6,739 ($111) and 39,943 tons from the US at a unit price of Rs 8,545 ($138).
