Sept coking coal imports via Vizag Port up 40% m-o-m

October 9: Coking coal imports through the port of Vizag rose 40.36% to 400,371 tons in September 2014 against a volume of 285,250 tons reported in August, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In September 2013, coking coal imports through Vizag Port stood a little higher at 546,544 tons.
With this, in the first six months of the current financial year (2014-15), coking coal imports through the port stood at 2,526,604 tons against a volume of 3,144,910 tons imported during the same period in 2013-14.
Following is the monthly break-up of coking coal imports via Vizag Port in 2013-14 and 2014-15:

In September, imports comprised 369,411 tons from Australia in a band of Rs 6,610 – Rs 8,664 (108-142) per ton while the remaining 30,960 tons arrived from New Zealand at a unit price of Rs 6,179 ($100).
In August, imports comprised 239,398 tons from Australia in a price band of Rs 6,586 – Rs 8,245 ($109-135) per ton while the balance 45,852 arrived from the US at Rs 8,317 ($134-137) per ton.
