Sept steam coal imports via Kandla up 13% m-o-m

October 20: Steam coal imports through the port of Kandla stood at 733,266 tons in September 2014, up 12.71% from 650,566 tons imported in August, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Imports of steam coal through the port during September 2013 stood at 694,762 tons.
Imports of steam coal through the port during the first six months of FY’15 stood at 3, 763,553 tons while the same stood at 3,784,488 tons during the same period last year.
Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Kandla Port in 2014-15 and 2014-13:

During September 2014, 537,653 tons came in from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,016-Rs 4,827 ($33-$79) per ton while the balance 195,613 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 5,138-Rs 5,961 ($84-$98) per ton.
However, in August 2014, 383,198 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 1,362-Rs 5,981 ($22-$97) per ton while 267,368 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4,509-Rs 6,058 ($73-$98) per ton.
