October 28: Steam coal imports through the port of Vizag declined by a sharp 30.13% to 133,362 tons in September 2013 against 190,870 tons recorded in August 2013, as per provisional data available with ICMW.
With this, import of steam coal in the first six months (April-August), 2013-14 stood at 1,528,266 tons, against 2,319,535 tons registered during the corresponding period of 2012-13.
Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Vizag port during 2012-13 and 2013-14:

Note: The April 2012 numbers are combined import figures of Vizag and Gangavaram ports whereas the rest are standalone from Vizag.
In September 2013, the entire consignment arrived from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 2,875 – Rs 3,073 ($43-49) per ton.
In August 2013, the entire consignment arrived from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 2,653-Rs 4,881 ($44-$82).
