Shaanxi January-October coal output down 4.2% y-o-y

Shaanxi province, the country’s third largest coal mining base, produced 400.06 million tonnes of coal over January-October this year, down 4.16% from a year ago, said the Shaanxi Development and Reform Commission on November 12.

Among this, key state-owned mines – owned by the central and provincial governments – produced 190.92 million tonnes of coal, dropping 6.8% year on year, including 85.97 million tonnes from Shenhua Shendong Coal Group, down 10.2% on year.

Coal output of local mines -- owned by the prefecture and lower-level governments and private mines -- stood at 209.14 million tonnes, dropping 1.66% from the year prior.

In October, coal output at Shaanxi declined 7.46% from the year before and down 0.16% from September to 42.13 million tonnes.

Total coal sales of the province stood at 389.34 million tonnes over January-October, falling 3.78% year on year, with October sales at 40.57 million tonnes, falling 9.8% on year and down 1.31% on month.
