Shanxi September coal output down 4.8% m-o-m

Shanxi province, a major coal-producing base in north China, produced 79.34 million tonnes of raw coal in September, increasing 5.3% on year but down 4.84% on month, said the provincial Bureau of Statistics on November 13.
Over January-September, raw coal output of the province stood at 696.21 million tonnes, dropping 1.3% year on year.
The province transported a total 380.7 million tonnes of coal through railways during the same period, registering a year-on-year decline of 6.5%.
In September, coal transport by coal-dedicated Daqin line fell 7.19% from August and down 17.15% on year to 31.21 million tonnes, posting the 13th consecutive yearly drop; while daily coal transport of Daqin slid 4.15% on month to 1.04 million tonnes.
In the first three quarters of the year, coal transport at Daqin decreased 10.17% from a year ago to 305.04 million tonnes, accounting for 72.63% of the designed transport for the whole year, which was set at 420 million tonnes.
The added value of Shanxi’s coal industry saw a year-on-year rise of 7.2% in September, the second consecutive yearly increase; while that between January and September witnessed a 0.4% drop on year.
