Shree Cement procures high sulphur Indonesia coal

December 4: Shree Cement Ltd, India’s leading cement manufacturer with plants in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, recently started procuring high sulphur and high calorific value (CV) Indonesian coal, according to information available with ICMW.
The company has contracted to bring in a small parcel of 25,000 tons of coal with a calorific value of 7,000 Kcal/kg and sulphur content of 2.5%.
The material will be loaded at an Indonesian port on December 15 and will be unloaded at Haldia port.
Shree Cement primarily uses petroleum coke and high sulphur, high calorific value US steam coal but for the first time it has contracted to buy Indonesian coal for its upcoming plant in Chhattisgarh.
ICMW learnt that Shree Cement is planning to bring in another parcel of Indonesian coal for use at its Rajasthan plant.
An industry source said that as the Chhattisgarh plant of Shree Cement is yet to be fully operational, the Indonesian cargo of a small quantity of 5,000 tons will be used at the plant and the balance 20,000 tons will be sold to a consumer in Nepal.
