Shuozhou January-August coal output down 18.6% y-o-y

Shuozhou city, located in the northern area of the coal-rich Shanxi province, produced 121.18 million tonnes of coal over January-August, down 18.55% year on year, data from the local coal industry bureau showed on September 23.
The decrease was mainly due to miners ran low capacities to reduce losses amid falling prices.
Of this, the coal output from local mines – owned by governments at the prefecture and lower levels and private operators – amounted to 42.35 million tonnes over January-August, dropping 25.08% on year.
Coal output from state-owned ChinaCoal Pingshuo Group Co. stood at 27.34 million tonnes, a decline of 22.02% on year.
In August, Shuozhou produced a total 16.81 million tonnes of coal, rising 3.94% on month and up 24.06% on year.
Of this, the coal output from local coal mines amounted to 5.33 million tonnes, edging up 8.68% on month and soaring 50.15% on year.
Coal output from ChinaCoal Pingshuo stood at 3.98 million tonnes, increasing 6.77% on month and up 48.36% on year.
Raw coal sales in Shuozhou over January-August totaled 54.57 million tonnes, down 22.98% on year, with August sales at 7.22 million tonnes; while washed coal sales totaled 89.44 million tonnes during the same period, down 13.62%, with August sales at 10.27 million tonnes.
By end-August, raw coal stockpile across the city stood at 5.89 million tonnes, rising 19.04% on month and up 10.9% on year; while washed coal stocks were 2.67 million tonnes, falling 1.97% on month but up 191.39% on year.
