Siemens to supply SGT5-2000E gas turbines to Sudanese Thermal Power Generating Company
Siemens has secured a deal with Sudanese Thermal Power Generating Company (STPGC) for the supply of five SGT5-2000E gas turbines.
The machines will have the combined capacity to generate approximately 850MW for the Sudanese national grid and all five power plant units are scheduled to commence commercial operation by the end of next year.
Siemens' power and gas division CEO Willi Meixner said: “Our power plant engineering is making a decisive contribution to very rapidly improving the power supply system in Sudan.
“We’re thus in a position to help the people of Republic of the Sudan to develop a modern yet affordable electrification system that brings forward efforts to advance the nation’s economic and social development.
