Singareni Collieries sees 24.1% growth rakes in FY16

Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) has registered a 24.1% growth in railway rakes in 2015-16 over a year ago, company sources told ICMW.

The total number of rakes increased to 10,070 in 2015-16, against 8,110 in 2014-15, the sources said.

Higher rakes availability led to 11.4% increase in despatches during the year under review. Coal despatches stood at 58.67 million tons (mt) in 2015-16 from 52.66 mt in the previous year.

Growth in coal despatches at SCCL exceeded that of CIL which achieved 8.8% last year. This was also the record high growth in the last six years.
