Singareni begins commercial operation of 600 mw unit 2 of thermal power project

The Singareni Collieries Company Limited has begun commercial operations of the second unit of 600 mw coal fired thermal power project located in Jaipur in Adilabad district of Telangana.
The 72-hour-long Commercial Operation test was completed on Friday thereby enabling the power project to supply the entire power generated from the 1200 mw thermal power plant to the new State of Telangana.
N. Sridhar C&MD, SCCL, said the power from the 1200 mw project will be a big boon for people of Telangana. This was possible due to constant support and encouragement from Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
Thus far the Singareni project produced 1377 million units of power after synchronisation of both the units of the 1200 mw project. Of this 1262 Million units of power has been supplied to the State power sector through Gazwel power grid and remaining 115 million units was utilised by power project for its requirement.
Due to special emphasis on the early completion of the power project, both the units were commissioned within 18 months. They were made ready within a gap of two months, considered a major achievement.
The power from the power plant of State-owned mining company Singareni Collieries would help Telangana Transco bridge the demand supply gap.
