Singareni coal production rises 27% in 6-month period

The Singareni Collieries Company Limited(SCCL) has achieved 27.46 per cent growth in coal production at 25.09 million tonnes in the first half of the current financial year ending September, 2015 as compared to 21.34 million tonnes in the same period last year. The achieved production was 8 per cent higher than the target fixed for the period, according to the company.
The SCCL in which Telangana government and the Centre hold 51 and 49 per cent stake respectively, meets the requirement of power utilities in Telangana and some power plants in Maharashtra and Karnataka besides captive power cement and other industries in the state. The coal dispatches handled during the first six month period stood at 28.34 million tonnes registering a 14.55 per cent growth over the same period's supply of 24.74 million tonnes last year.
"SCCL is taking all necessary steps for increase and supply of coal to power units in Telangana for all round development of the state," said Singareni Collieries chairman and managing director N Sridhar.
