January 8: Spot seaborne coal prices witnessed mixed trends on January 7 as rates of higher grade Indonesian varieties remained flat while those of South African and Australian origin were slightly down.
Heavy rains in Indonesia had affected loading from the country's ports between the Christmas and New Year holidays and this led to a slight firmness in spot coal prices, market sources said.
Meanwhile, the uncertainty relating to Colombian coal miner Drummond continued but there was not much impact on the market.
In the coking coal market, prices were slightly up over the weekend, sources added.
