May 14: Slight firmness was witnessed in South African standard coal prices even as off-spec rates softened sharply on lack of enquiries, market sources said.
"Lower availability of standard cargo amidst slightly better demand is prompting sellers to offer higher prices. However, comparatively, better availability of off-spec material amidst low demand from Europe prompted them to offer lower quotes," they added.
