Slight improvement in coal, lignite exploration till July

India’s promotional and detailed drilling during the first 4 months (April-July) of 2016-17 has improved a bit, according to official data.

Promotional drilling during the period stood at 0.30 lakh metres, while detailed stood at 2.96 lakh up to the month of July.

The promotional drilling target, as per the Annual Plan of 2016-17, is 1.75 lakh metres (0.90 lakh metres in coal and 0.85 lakh metres in lignite), while the detailed drilling target for the year has been set at 11.0 lakh metres (department: 4.0 lakh metres and outsourcing: 7.0 lakh metres).
