April 7: A sharp decline in offered quantity appears to have affected realisations for G4 grade coal (GCV between 6,101 and 6,400 Kcal/kg) in the month of February.
The offered quantity in March slipped to 37,380 tons, nearly all of which got allotted, from a high 1,57,204 tons in February as a result the weighted average realisation price jumped to Rs 6,228 per ton from a low of 4,842 tons in February when allotted quantity stood at 1,29,936 tons.
G4 grade coal offered for allotment through coaljunction in January 2015 had met with a fair demand as out of the entire offered quantity of 129,680 tons of coal, 123,982 tons got allotted and the weighted average price of the allotted quantity during the month stood at Rs 4,823/ton.
