April 21: A day after fears of supply restrictions from Russian led to some firmness, spot prices of South African steam coal softened on April 17 on little or no demand from European countries, industry sources.
There continues to be low demand from Asian buyers and, in such a scenario, it was just a matter of time for South African coal prices to ease, they said.
