January 21: A stable trend was witnessed in international spot coal markets on January 20 amidst an expectation of a weakness in prices following a weak economic growth data announced by China, industry sources said.
The Chinese GDP growth rate slipped to 14 year low of 7.7% for 2013 and also for October-December quarter of 2013 and many in coal market believe that this would put pressure on coal prices going forward as it indicates lower growth in China's coal demand in coming months.
