Star Global aims to enlarge its presence in India

July 2: Dubai-based Star Global LLC is aiming to expand its presence in India by tapping sponge iron and power sector companies for meeting their imported coal demand, a company official said.

“We are primarily targeting the sponge iron and power producers in India to sell South African and Indonesian coal,” the official said.

“India is a market with tremendous potential, particularly for coal, and we aim to capitalize it with our strong sourcing capabilities,” the official of Star Global LLC said.

The company, which already procures steel from India for supply to other countries, is also planning to supply iron ore fines and limestone to Indian steel makers.

“We have recently contracted to supply 40000 tons of iron ore fines to a leading steel maker based in Western India,” the official said, adding, they are also looking to finalise deal for supply of limestone.

Star Global was chosen by Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry as the “Exporter of the Month” for the month of May 2014 in recognition of the outstanding performance in export/re-export category.

With its own Trading & Shipping desk for Steel, Coal, Mineral commodities and Fertilizers, Star Global has broad geographical presence in GCC, India, Indonesia, China, Africa, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
