After a gap of one month, imports of steam coal or non-coking coal via Cochin Port resumed with 20,250 tons in February 2016, according to provisional data available with ICMW. Incidentally, 4,000 tons of steam coal were imported in December 2015 via this port.
There were no imports of steam coal through the port in February 2015.
For the first 11 months (April- February) of the current fiscal (2015-16), steam coal imports via Cochin Port stood at 97,950 tons against 48,034 tons imported in the same period of the previous fiscal (2014-15).

During February 2016, out of the entire imported quantity, 6,000 tons came from South Africa at a unit price of Rs 5,220 ($76) per ton and 14,250 tons from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 4,072-Rs 4,074 ($60-$60) per ton.
During January 2016, there were no imports of steam coal via this port.
