After a gap of one month, imports of non-coking coal (steam coal) via Cochin Port resumed in May with volumes at 8,000 tons, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
In March 2016, 8,000 tons of the material had been imported too.
However, imports of the material via the port stood at 10,000 tons in May 2015.
Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Cochin Port in 2016-17 and 2015-16:

During May 2016, the entire imported quantity of 8,000 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 3,760-Rs 3,810 5,258 ($55-$56) per ton.
During March 2016, the entire imported quantity of 8,000 tons came from South Africa at a unit price of Rs 5,258 ($77) per ton.
