December 24: Steam coal imports through the port of Ennore dropped by 50.26% to 320,207 tons in November 2013 against 643,860 tons reported in October 2013, as per information available with ICMW.
With this, steam coal imports during the first eight months of 2013-14 were at 4,245,995 tons against 2,232,809 tons reported during the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
In November 2012, steam coal imports stood at 329,653, which shows a marginal drop of 2.86% in the same month of the current fiscal.
Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Ennore port in FY'13 and FY'14:

In November 2013, 310207 tons arrived from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 3,081-Rs 5,863 (49-$93) per ton while the balance 10,000 tons arrived from Mozambique at a unit price of Rs 4,060 ($64).
In October, however, 606,748 tons were imported from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 2,295-Rs 5,906 (37-$94) per ton and the balance 37112 tons arrived from Mozambique in a price band of Rs 4,082-Rs 4,331 ($66-$70) per ton.
