Steam coal imports via Ennore up 7.80% in Oct m-o-m

November 26: Steam coal imports through the port of Ennore stood higher by 7.80% at 643,860 tons in October 2013 against 597,230 tons reported in September 2013, as per information available with ICMW.
With this, steam coal imports during the first seven months of 2013-14 were at 3,925,788 tons against 1,903,156 tons reported during the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
In October 2012, steam coal imports stood at 188,681 tons, which was considerably lower than the figure in October of the current fiscal.
Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Ennore port in FY'13 and FY'14:

In October, 606,748 tons were imported from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 2,295 – Rs 5,906 (37-$94) per ton and the balance 37112 tons arrived from Mozambique in a price band of Rs 4,082-Rs 4,331 ($66-$70) per ton.
In September, the entire consignment arrived from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 2,910-Rs 6,225 ($43.44-$98) per ton.
