Steam coal imports via Gangavaram fall 22.45% m-o-m in August

September 13: Steam coal imports via Gangavaram port fell 22.45% to 500,609 tons in August 2013 from 645,534 tons in July 2013, as per provisional information available with ICMW. 
With this, imports through the port during the first five months of 2013-14 stood at 2,943,035 tons whereas the figure stood at 1,400,433 tons during corresponding period of 2012-13.

Following are the details of imports in 2012-13 and 2013-14 (in tons):

During August 2013, 343,171 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 4134-Rs 4655 ($67-$71) per ton while 157,438 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4902-Rs 5623 ($77-$91) per ton.

However, in July 2013, 405,218 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,760-Rs 5,058 ($46-$85) per ton while 240,316 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 3,978-Rs 5,709 ($67-$96) per ton.
