October23: Steam coal imports via Gangavaram port fell 30.14 % to 349,762 tons in September 2013 from 500,609 tons in August 2013, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
With this, imports through the port during the first six months (April-September) of 2013-14 stood at 3,292,797 tons, higher from 1,641,416 tons during corresponding period of 2012-13.

During August 2013, 182760 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 3,802-Rs 4,383($61-$69) per ton while 167,002 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 5,099-Rs 5,789 ($79-$91) per ton.
However, during August 2013, 343,171 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 4,134-Rs 4,655 ($67-$71) per ton while 157,438 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4,902-Rs 5,623 ($77-$91) per ton.
