Steam coal imports via Gangavaram fall 9.75% m-o-m in Dec

January 7: Steam coal imports via Gangavaram port fell 9.75% to 129,475 tons in December 2013 from 143,464 tons reported in November 2013, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
With this, imports through the port during the first nine months of 2013-14 stood at 3,883,585 tons, higher from 3,440,447 tons recorded during corresponding period of 2012-13.

In December 2013, 25,400 tons came from Australia at a price range of Rs 4,775-Rs 4,820 ($77) per ton while 104,075 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 5,680-Rs 5,771 ($90-$93) per ton.
However, during November 2013, 75,268 tons came from Australia at a price range of Rs 4,774-Rs 4,820 ($77-$76) per ton while 68,196 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 5,126-Rs 5,621 ($81-$89) per ton.
