Steam coal imports via Gangavaram treble in April m-o-m

May 8: Steam coal imports via Gangavaram Port stood at 397,653 tons in April 2014, almost treble compared 135,545 tons reported in March 2014, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
During 2013-14, steam coal imports via the port stood at 4,394,796 tons.

During the month of April 2014, 165,000 tons came in from Indonesia at a price of Rs 4,678 ($77) per ton while the balance 232,653 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4,696-Rs 5,972 ($78-$99) per ton.
However, during March 2014, the entire material came in from South Africa within a price range of Rs 4,797-Rs 6,111 ($78-$99) per ton while in February 2014, a volume of 53,378 tons came from Indonesia at a price of Rs 4,663 ($75) per ton while the balance 150,011 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4,643-Rs 11,125 ($75-$177) per ton.
