Steam coal imports via Gangavaram up 18.06% m-o-m in Feb

March 10: Steam coal imports via Gangavaram Port stood at 203,389 tons in February 2014, up 18.06% from 172,277 tons reported in January 2014, as per provisional information available with ICMW.  

With this, imports through the port during the first 11 months of 2013-14 stood at 4,259,251 tons, higher from 4,026,591 tons recorded during the corresponding period of 2012-13.

Following are the details of imports in 2012-13 and 2013-14 (in tons): 

In February 2014, 53,378 tons came from Indonesia at a price of Rs 4,663 ($75) per ton while the balance 150,011 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4,643-Rs 11,125 ($75-$177) per ton.

However, during January 2014, 76,280 tons came from Indonesia at a price of Rs 4,656 ($75) per ton while the rest of 95,997 tons came in from South Africa at a price range of Rs 5,622-Rs 6,041 ($90-$97) per ton.
