Steam coal imports via Gangavaram up 70% in July m-o-m

August 14: Steam coal imports via Gangavaram Port stood at 804,347 tons in July 2014, up 69.96% from 473,262 tons reported in June 2014, as per provisional information available with ICMW.  

During July 2013, steam coal imports via the port stood at 645,534 tons.

During the first four months (April-July) of the current financial year of 2014-15, total steam coal imported through the port stood at 2,433,586 tons while the figure stood at 2,442,425 tons during the corresponding period of 2013-14.

Following are the details of imports in 2014-15 and 2013-14 (in tons):

In July 2014, 62,040 tons came in from Australia at a price range of Rs 4,426-Rs 4,516 ($73-$75) per ton, 224,122 tons came in from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 3,642-Rs 3,836 ($61-$64) per ton while the balance 518,185 tons came in from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4,618-Rs 5,662 ($76-$93) per ton.

However, during June 2014, 50,051 tons came in from Australia at a price range of Rs 4,516-Rs 8,081 ($75-$135) per ton, 132,304 tons came in from Indonesia at a price of Rs 4,464 ($74) per ton while the balance 290,907 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4,284-Rs 5,808 ($71-$96) per ton.
