Steam coal imports via Gangavaram up almost 90.69% in May m-o-m

June 12: Steam coal imports via Gangavaram Port stood at 758,324 tons in May 2014, up 90.69% from 397,653 tons reported in April 2014, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
During May 2013, steam coal imports via the port stood at 351,905 tons.
During the first two months (April-May) of the current financial year 2014-15, total steam coal imported through the port stood at 1,155,977 tons while the figure stood at 775,011 tons during the corresponding period of 2013-14.

In May 2014, 140,632 tons came from Chile at a price range of Rs 3,101-Rs 3,522 ($51-$58) per ton, 161,122 tons came from Indonesia at a price of Rs 4,486 ($75) per ton while the rest of 456,570 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4,323-Rs 5,863 ($72-$96) per ton.
However, during the month of April 2014, 165,000 tons came in from Indonesia at a price of Rs 4,678 ($77) per ton while the rest of 232,653 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4,696-Rs 5,972 ($78-$99) per ton.
