Steam coal imports via Kandla fall 18.35% in March m-o-m

April 14: Steam coal imports through the port of Kandla stood at 266,967 tons in March 2014, down 18.35% from 326,977 tons imported in February, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
The import of steam coal through the port during FY'14 stood at 5,945,918 tons while the same stood at 3,920,526 tons during the same period last year.

In March 2014, 264,455 tons came in from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,331 - Rs 5,123 ($38-$83) per ton while 2,512 tons came from South Africa at a price of Rs 5,503 ($87) per ton.
However, during February 2014, 277,661 tons came in from Indonesia in a price range of Rs 2,667 - Rs 5,032 ($42-$80) per ton while the balance 49,316 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 5,332 - Rs 6,214 ($86-$99) per ton.
