Steam coal imports via Kandla fall 9.96% in October

November 20: Steam coal import through the port of Kandla stood at 625,562 tons in October, down 9.96% from 694,762 tons imported in September.
The import of steam coal through the port during the first seven months (April-October) of FY'14 stood at 4,410,050 tons while the same stood at 2,081,843 tons during same period last year.

During October 2013, 75,000 tons came from Chile at a price of Rs 4261 ($68) per ton, 397,171 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2677-Rs 5260 ($43-$85) per ton, 7,000 tons came from Mozambique at a price range of Rs 5581-Rs 6161 ($89-$99) per ton while 146,391 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 5052-Rs 7681 ($81-$123) per ton.
However, in September 2013, of the total import during the month, 468,706 tons came from Indonesia and the balance 226,057 tons came from South Africa. The material from Indonesia came at a price range of Rs 2468-Rs 7424 ($43.00-$110.81) per ton while from South Africa it came at a price range of Rs 5,874-Rs 6,474 ($83.67-$103)per ton.
