Steam coal imports via Kandla up 41.32% in May m-o-m

June 26: Steam coal imports through the port of Kandla stood at 607,699 tons in May 2014, up 41.32% from 430,014 tons imported in April, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Import of steam coal through the port during May 2013 stood at 557,048 tons.
The import of steam coal through the port during the first two months of FY’15 stood at 1,037,713 tons while the same stood at 933,279 tons during the same period last year.
Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Kandla Port:

In May 2014, 35,000 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4,880-Rs 5,469 ($80-$90) per ton while 572,699 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,443-Rs 4,883 ($41-$81) per ton.
However, during April 2014, 318,097 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,359-Rs 5,202 ($39-$86) per ton while 111,917 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4,853-Rs 5,519 ($80-$91) per ton.
