Steam coal imports via Kandla up 61.07% in April m-o-m

May 14: Steam coal imports through the port of Kandla stood at 430,014 tons in April 2014, up 61.07% from 266,967 tons in March, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
Imports of steam coal through the port during April 2013 stood at 376,231 tons.
The import of steam coal through the port during FY'14 stood at 5,945,918 tons while the same stood at 3,920,526 tons during the same period last year.
Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Kandla Port:

During April 2014,318,097 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,359-Rs 5,202 ($39-$86) per ton while 111,917 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4,853-Rs 5,519 ($80-$91) per ton.
However, in March 2014, 264,455 tons came in from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,331-Rs 5,123 ($38-$83) per ton while 2,512 tons came from South Africa at a price of Rs 5,503 ($87) per ton.
