Steam coal imports via Kandla up 9.59% in September

October 16: Steam coal import through the port of Kandla stood at 694,763 tons in September, up 9.60% from 633,912 tons imported in August.
The import of steam coal through the port during the first six months of FY'14 stood at 3,784,488 tons while it stood at 1,735,586 tons during same period last year.
Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Kandla port:

Of the total import during the month, 468706 tons came from Indonesia and the balance 226,057 tons came from South Africa.
The material from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2468.00-Rs 7424.00 (($43.00-$110.81) per ton while from South Africa at a price range of Rs 5,874.00-Rs 6,474.00 ($83.67-$103)per ton.
In August 2013, 507,612 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,680-Rs 7,513 ($44-$121) per ton while 126,300 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 5,595-Rs 6,544 ($91-$100) per ton.
