Steam coal imports via Kandla up 9.89% in Dec m-o-m

January 21: Steam coal import through the port of Kandla stood at 288,186 tons in December, up 9.89% from 262,250 tons imported in November.
The import of steam coal through the port during the first nine months (April-December) of FY'14 stood at 4,960,486 tons while the same stood at 2,740,517 tons during the same period last year.
Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Kandla port:

During December 2013, 209,427 tons came in from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,594-Rs 5,210 ($42-$82) per ton while 78,759 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4,919-Rs 6,525 ($79-$105) per ton.
However, in November 2013, 2,000 tons came from Mozambique at a price of Rs 5,565 ($88) per ton, 42,000 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4,998-Rs 6,275 ($79-$101) per ton while 218, 250 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,701-Rs 4,837 ($43-$77) per ton.
