Steam coal imports via Mormugao more than doubles in March m-o-m

April 10: Imports of non-coking (steam) coal via Mormugao Port stood at 172,284 tons during the month of March, up almost more than twice as compared to 71,399 tons recorded during the previous month, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
However, in March 2013, non-coking coal imports via the port stood at nil.
Following are the month-wise non-coking coal imports via Mormugao Port during 2013-14 and 2012-13:

During March 2014, the entire material came in from South Africa at a price range of Rs 5,307-Rs 6,270 ($86-$101) per ton.
However, in the month of February 2014, the entire quantity came from Australia at a price of Rs 8,693 ($138) per ton.
