Steam coal imports via Mormugao up 19.08% in Jul m-o-m

August 13: Steam coal imports through the port of Mormugao rose 19.08% to 249,976 tons in July 2014, against 209,928 tons reported in June, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
In July 2013, the volume of steam coal imports through the port stood at nil.
In the first four months of the current financial year (2014-15), steam coal imports through the port stood at 673,922 tons as against nil imports recorded during the same period of 2013-14.
Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Mormugao in 2013-14 and 2014-15:

During July 2014, 80,204 tons came in from Australia at a price of Rs 7,913 ($130) per ton while the balance 169,772 tons came in from South Africa at a price range of Rs 5,815-Rs 5,683 ($95-$96) per ton.
However, in June 2014, 83,067 tons came in from Australia at a price range of Rs 7,523 ($124) per ton whereas the balance 126,861 tons came in from South Africa at a price range of Rs 5,108-Rs 5,733 ($85-$96) per ton.
